Starting off, my opinion on blogs I would say, in general, is pretty neutral. I’d be lying if I said I am a frequent reader, I find myself reading more books than blogs. That being said, I did find enjoyment in reading the two blogs I chose.
The first blog I chose is titled theScore.com. I do enjoy watching sports so this caught my eye right off the bat. I like it because it is very straightforward and there is minimal word vomit, if you know what I mean. It’s also advertised as “The ultimate, personalized mobile sports experience.” Who doesn’t enjoy some good personalization?
As for what I didn’t like, I was really trying to search for something, I got rather knit-picky, I couldn’t find anything! Not through the lack of trying, however.
Next, the blog was organized in a very ideal way when it comes to sports, by organization, i.e., NFL, NHL, NBA, etc. After you click on the league or organization, it will direct you to recent or current games, the scores of those games, players, etc.
The author's purpose here is to inform us about sports news and current events happening in the league. I can see that they use a “hook” or some sort of catchy title to help with clicks. For example as I am quoting the homepage “Reddick storms to Daytona 500 win after hectic final lap.” Now we are all wondering what about the race made it hectic. Here’s why: https://www.thescore.com/nascar/
I tried to use the photo of Reddick, however it
was not copy and paste-able. Enjoy this photo

The next article I chose to read was Harper's BAZAAR. https://www.harpersbazaar.com/
I chose this blog because I knew I wouldn’t be a fan. I am not very interested in high fashion and celeb-gossip or things of that nature, so I decided to read it and maybe it would change my mind…
I am going to start off with the things I didn’t like about this. It was not organized in a way that scratched my brain. There were several topics so close together, unrelated. There were ads all over the place and it just felt unorganized, especially coming from the previous blog. There was a lot going on!
I did enjoy the bar at the top to navigate topics, without it, I don’t know what we would do, there was so much to “DIGEST.
It was organized by a million things (can you tell I’m not a fan yet.) We had beauty, fashion, celebrity, weddings, culture, etc. However, if you kept scrolling down the homepage you’d find that it eventually isn’t organized by anything.
The author's purpose is to entertain and inform the public with these topics I’ve listed. They’re trying to engage the readers and use catchy phrases, which I am feeling like most blog posts do, and advertise the inside scoop, saying “you need this, look at this best product ever”, yada ya.
Might I add, that the small picture next to the article on the “50 Best Blogs in the World” website next to the Harper’s BAZAAR, reads “COVID CRISIS.” (In caps.) What is happening here? Is it old?
Anyways, I didn’t have a good time on this website, however I can appreciate a good search bar. Here’s a picture of “Valentine’s Day Gifts He’ll Actually Want”

In conclusion, I did enjoy comparing and contrasting blogs. It’s very interesting to see different perspectives and styles from different authors and websites.
